Artist statment:

“In Alberti’s idea of the painting serving as a window into the world, the very possibility of an objective act of observation is undermined, and thus it sends us beyond what is visible – somewhere where we can see what is behind the veil. In realistic painting, I am interested in the moment of transition between these worlds. Representations of reflections in mirrors, shiny objects – the spontaneous appearance of an image, built on physical laws, gives a substitute for a sense of truth. At the same time, the multiplied reflections intensify the division of the child’s dream world that is just being created. Beautiful as shiny porcelain, tempting to stay in it. Enchanted in the form of still lifes, which are only an illusion of the possibility of fulfilling the longing to immobilize this ever-changing world.“ – Marta Wawrzynowicz
